Thmanyah — Live Football Streaming
Every Saudi match, live — lineups, key moments, AI recaps, and your friends in one screen.
Overview
A self-initiated design case study for a live sports streaming app serving the Saudi football audience — an exclusive, free home for the Saudi leagues. The concept covers the full journey: onboarding with favourite-team selection, a home feed of live and upcoming matches, a match center with formations, lineups, and a key-moments timeline, a live player with camera switching and audio-only mode, and a social watch-party chat for watching with friends. The UI is Arabic-first (RTL) on a dark, stadium-inspired visual language.
The Challenge
Fans watching matches on today's platforms face slow streams, cluttered interfaces, missed key moments, and experiences that ignore local culture — all under low real-world internet speeds and rising expectations. The concept needed a fast, clear, personal broadcast experience usable anywhere: at home, on the road, or out with friends.
Our Approach
- 01
Research the field
Ran a competitive analysis across Shahid, DAZN, StarzPlay, YouTube Live, Twitter/X, and TikTok — mapping each platform's strengths and weaknesses to find the openings: a cleaner ad-free experience, official-quality instant replays, and a social layer regional competitors lack.
- 02
Define the opportunity
Framed the problem statement and distilled five opportunity pillars: speed to the moment, local culture (Hijri dates, prayer-time audio muting, local commentator voices), a clean experience, personalization around favourite teams, and watching together as a killer feature.
- 03
Map the journey
Designed the end-to-end user flow — first-run onboarding, home with today's matches, pre-match center with lineups and stats, live player with event timeline, quick replays, camera switching, data-saver and audio-only modes, and a post-match summary with a highlights library.
- 04
Design the screens
Delivered high-fidelity, RTL Arabic screens: onboarding, home with live-match hero and schedule, match center with tactical formations and key-moments timeline, an AI match-recap entry point, and the group watch-party chat.
AIAI & Automation
The concept designs an AI Recap feature into the match experience: a one-tap smart summary of everything you missed — faster than social media clips but with official broadcast quality — plus an event timeline that doubles as instant replay navigation.
